Celebrating 50 Years in Kent at the East Kent Ploughing Match 2026

 
There aren’t many better places to celebrate 50 years in Kent than at an event that has been bringing the county together for generations. 
 
For more than 80 years, the East Kent Ploughing Match has welcomed farming families, businesses and communities from across Kent for a day celebrating the people, traditions and industries that help shape the county. 

This year felt particularly special for Burgess Hodgson. 

50 years of Burgess Hodgson in Kent 

2026 marks our 50th year in Kent. 
 
While plenty has changed during that time, being part of the community around us has remained incredibly important. 
 
That’s why celebrating the milestone at the East Kent Ploughing Match felt particularly fitting. 
 
The event brought together many of the businesses, families and communities we’ve worked alongside over the years — from long-established rural businesses to the next generation building something of their own. 
 
It gave us an opportunity to celebrate where we’ve come from, while looking forward to what comes next. 

Celebrating 75 years of the Women’s Section 

There was another important anniversary to celebrate this year. 
 
The East Kent Ploughing Match Women’s Section marked its 75th anniversary, and we were proud to sponsor this part of the event. 
 
For 75 years, the Women’s Section has been part of the fabric of the Ploughing Match, reflecting the contribution women have made — and continue to make — across agriculture, rural businesses and their communities. 
 
We were delighted to join them in celebrating the milestone. 
 

Bringing people together 

There was plenty happening at the Burgess Hodgson marquee throughout the day. 
 
Visitors joined us for refreshments, met members of the team and enjoyed activities including axe throwing and our spinning wheel, with plenty of opportunities to catch up with familiar faces. 
 
More importantly, it was a chance to spend some time together away from the office. 
 
Whether you joined us as a client, a friend of the firm or simply stopped by while exploring the showground, thank you for being part of the day. 

A day celebrating Kent 

From the ploughing competitions themselves to the local businesses and community organisations around the showground, the East Kent Ploughing Match remains one of the highlights of Kent’s rural calendar. 
 
After 50 years of calling Kent home, it was a pleasure to celebrate alongside so many of the people who have been part of our journey.
