Hari Budha Conquering dreams

Since 2014, Burgess Hodgson has had the privilege of supporting Hari, a client whose remarkable journey of resilience, determination and courage continues to inspire people around the world.

Today, we are proud to celebrate two significant milestones in that journey: becoming the first double above-knee amputee to complete the Seven Summits challenge and the release of his new book, Conquering Dreams.

A journey defined by resilience

Hari served in the British Army’s Gurkha regiment for 14 years, but after stepping on an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan, Hari tragically lost both legs.

Rather than accepting limitations and lowering his ambitions, Hari chose to challenge them. With many preconceived perceptions of disabilities already, he used that disbelief to fuel what believed could be achieved.

Reaching new heights

In a world that already underestimated what disabled people could achieve, discriminatory regulations became another obstacle in Hari’s path. At the time, double amputees were prohibited from attempting some of the world’s highest mountains. Rather than accepting those limitations, Hari challenged them, helping create opportunities not only for himself, but for future generations of climbers

In 2023 made the impossible possible by becoming the first double above-knee amputee to summit Mount Everest in 2023. He later went on to make history once again by becoming the first double above-knee amputee to complete the Seven Summits challenge in January 2026.

His journey serves as a powerful reminder that our greatest limitations are often the ones we place upon ourselves.
