Ever since we were formed back in 1976, we have worked hard to establish deep-rooted and enduring connections across our local community in Kent.
We’re proud to play a role in Canterbury Business Improvement District (BID), supporting improvements to Canterbury city centre for visitors and businesses.
We have a longstanding commitment to support local charities. The Burgess Hodgson Foundation raises over £10,000 every year to help fund a range of community projects. Our people are also devoted to local social enterprises, and many of them have roles as trustees, governors and volunteers across Kent.
That’s not all. Here at Burgess Hodgson, we also believe in the transformative power of sport in improving the local community, so we support a number of grass roots and professional sports teams and clubs.
Today, Burgess Hodgson is one of the largest private employers in Canterbury, supporting the local economy and providing secure and stimulating work for over 250 people.
We’re an equal opportunities employer, providing rewarding career opportunities for the next generation. Our recruitment programme focuses on local schools and gives students access to our best-in-class training academy. As one of the largest training providers in Kent, we also provide opportunities to local people, as well as supporting our employees with their long term career development.
People have always been central to our continued success. Our company-wide Wellbeing and Assistance programme is accessible to everyone who works with us. And, as we’ve grown, we’ve made it our priority to connect as a larger team, so we organise a packed calendar of social and sporting events.
At Burgess Hodgson, we’ve taken a range of steps to be more mindful of the environment around us. We engage with local suppliers and retailers to reduce our impact, and deploy effective energy management systems across our site.
As part of our drive to become paperless, we have implemented virtual filing and documenting systems, and are committed to meeting the UK Government’s 65% recycling target by 2035.
We also encourage our people to use environmentally friendly ways of getting to work and support the Cycle to Work scheme.
