Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Corporate Development Analyst to support the delivery of our inorganic growth strategy, reporting to the Corporate Development and Integration Lead. This role will play a key part across the full transaction lifecycle – from origination and target research through to execution support and integration tracking.
Working closely with senior leadership, including Partners and the Growth team, the successful candidate will gain exposure to live transactions and contribute to building a high-quality acquisition pipeline within the accountancy and professional services sector.
The Role
Working in our dedicated Growth department, you will support the Corporate Development team to provide a broad range of duties including but not limited to:
Deal Origination & Pipeline Development
- Conduct market mapping and build target lists aligned to strategic acquisition criteria (geography, size, service offering)
- Research and profile potential acquisition targets (financials, ownership, services, client base)
- Maintain and update pipeline trackers, ensuring data integrity and clear reporting on deal progress
- Support outreach activities to targets, brokers, and advisors
Transaction Execution Support
- Assist in the preparation of investment papers, internal approvals, and board materials
- Support financial analysis, benchmarking, and valuation workstreams
- Coordinate due diligence processes across financial, legal, tax, and operational workstreams
- Track and follow up on outstanding diligence items with internal and external stakeholders
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with external advisors (corporate finance, legal, tax) and target firms
- Support internal coordination between Partners, finance, HR, IT, and integration teams
- Prepare briefing materials for meetings and calls
Integration & Post-Deal Support
- Support integration planning and tracking post-acquisition
- Monitor delivery of key integration milestones (systems migration, client transition, cross-sell opportunities)
- Assist with reporting on synergy tracking and post-deal performance
Reporting & Analysis
- Produce regular pipeline reports and management updates
- Develop clear, concise presentations for senior stakeholders and board meetings
- Analyse market trends and competitor activity to inform strategy
Undertake any other responsibilities or projects as reasonably requested to support the firm’s strategic objectives.
The standard hours for this position are 9.00am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday within our Canterbury office with some travel. We are offering a competitive salary, based on qualifications and experience.
The Candidate
The successful candidate should have:
- Corporate finance, transaction services, or a related analytical role
- Financial analysis and excel capability
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality, concise materials
- Ability to project manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
- Commercial mindset with an interest in M&A and the professional services sector
Desirable
- Experience within finance, accountancy, professional services
- Experience in Project Management
- Exposure to due diligence processes or transaction execution
