Rod’s portfolio is expansive and varied. His expertise lies in the running and taxation of owner managed business, from start-ups to established companies across a wide range of industries.

A dual qualified Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser Rod is well placed to advise on the various challenges that a business faces on a day-to-day basis.

He has worked on numerous multi-million pound business deals, assisting with corporate finance, providing expert advice on the content of Share Purchase Agreements alongside implementing bespoke tax efficient structures.

Within Burgess Hodgson, Rod is the training partner, recognised by the ICAEW as the firms Qualified person responsible for training (QPRT) and manages the delivery of training within the firm for over 70 trainees. Additionally he is also recognised by the ICAEW as a Responsible Individual and sits on the firms audit committee.

Rod joined Burgess Hodgson in 2008 after graduating from Loughborough University with a degree in Business, Economics and Finance. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2011 and a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2013 and was made Partner in 2018.

Outside of the office Rod is a keen cyclist, competing in mountainous events in Europe and recently scoring a top ten finish in the Haute Route Alps, considered to be one of the most challenging amateur cycling races in the world.

Having grown up and attended school in Canterbury, Rod lives locally with his wife, daughter, and his beloved dog.
